The Rains
Last week, I was pretty late while returning from office. It was not due to work but due to participation in a competition and my partners were good enough to score high (they needed a team member so I became a part of the group). Back to where I was, I was late and didn’t feel like taking a bus to home as it was drizzling also. Of all the devil minds, where my project is not allowed for a cab service, still I asked for it and got it (how… that’s out of question). I was told to go for the cab. I literally crawled to the cab and a girl, not good looking but dressed quite well (according to the standards where I’m staying) crossed me and sat in the rear seat of the cab. I had already my ears plugged to my Cowon D2+, playing some Coldplay numbers. I went and took the front seat. After sometime another lady (confirmed married) came and took the seat just behind me. She got down within 5 minutes of drive. Now only this girl and I were there. She was sitting cross-legged across to me i.e. just behind the driver. After the married woman got down she became busy with her phone (of course talking). At that very moment, with slight rain pouring on the windscreen, I thought why not post something that can happen in a cab and the name came to my mind: “The Rains”.
P.S: It’s all fictitious play of my mind, not even close to reality. Those who know me, you know it’s not real, just read it as it were someone else not me.
UPDATE 1 (13th Aug 2010): This is pretty long post, it’s a story. I can understand you may skip it for later, but whenever you go through, please do it completely. Do leave your comments (except the length part, I’m working on it)
UPDATE 2 (24th September 2010): Part II of the story “Hailstorm” is out.

It was a long week; I have been working the whole week from 7 in the morning to almost past midnight. I’ve been waiting for this weekend for almost a month now. This software industry seems to be taking a toll on me. I was not able to see my family awake this whole period, except my mother who took the trouble of waking me up every morning, pack me a delicious lunch, which I couldn’t savour due to the hectic schedule. I had to talk to my father over phone as in morning we both are busy to leave for office and me being on tighter leash. He would be fast asleep when I reach home at almost 1 o’clock. I was not even able to help my sister in her exams which are just barely a month away. Finally the project being delivered, I think I’ll be more relaxed and make up for the lost time. My Missing Days
I guess it was last I was visible here on Bastille Day i.e. 14th of July. Bastille Day happens to be day of French Revolution that occurred on 14th July 1789. So how does it relate to my absence? On 14th July is supposed to be my birthday. The time I’ve been going through since then is nothing less than a Roller-Coaster. Continue reading “My Missing Days”
Weirdon’ts
Today morning while I was about to cross the road I saw a minor accident and for a change I was not involved. A car, not flashy – basic i10, wanted to turn left and the roads were quite busy. It tried to move forward and as the person saw vehicles coming at high speed from front, he hit a reverse of couple of centimeters and Crash!!! A guy on cycle was hit by the car and he dropped his cycle and started shouting on the guy. The guy lowered his windows, saw through his Ray-Ban type looking aviator glasses calmly conversed with him. The guy still being very aggressive. By the time I’ve crossed the road and inspected his cycle from far. The cycle was fine, and even after the fall nothing had happened to it. The guy was pointing to his feet and said “you hit me” (probably, that was in Tamil). Now whose fault is it? The guy on cycle who was way too close or the guy in car who didn’t see before doing a reverse? Continue reading “Weirdon’ts”
My Kolkata Honeymoon
Nearly a month back from now, just to keep in touch a mail loop was started. Little did I know what the future holds? My friends were looking for a get-together, with almost all the things planned. Then someone whispered in my ears, “Why don’t you join?” That was it, just 20 days left for the meet and here I’m thinking of how to plan everything. As the saying goes, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”. Thanks to few people who helped me with my booking and I was ready to meet the great gang, most of them I’ll be meeting after a gap of nearly than 2 years. Continue reading “My Kolkata Honeymoon”
TCS – ILP 8th December 2008
It has been a year now, but the feeling is still fresh. I remember how nearly a year back I bid farewell to my dear ones and boarded for a new journey. Clutching my mobile thinking, now it’s probably the only way I can contact. Called all random numbers I knew, announced to all my friends that I’m going for training, TCS Trivandrum and one common question I heard, “why so far? When you’ll return.” I could manage to say “I’ll be back in a month” and the journey started. Continue reading “TCS – ILP 8th December 2008”
Jinxed Phoenix
Hi,
This is SAM aka Sabyasachi Mohapatra. With the latter, most people won’t recognize me so I’d settle with the first. It’s been long since I’ve written a blog. I’m not into books much and reading and writing are not my forte. So, I’d prefer a nice place to cool myself off by mostly sleeping.
As far as my sleeping goes, I’ve slept most of my quota in Delhi and nearly half a decade in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. Currently I’m using the gift of God by sleeping in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Apart from sleeping, I used to play Football (don’t ask the rules, there’s only one rule… ‘Hit the ball hard and roll it to the goal’) and love to play computer games .
I work for some multinational organization and as far as my sleeping goes, have lost my touch after coming in here. But my other past-time gained. I love listening to music. There’re so many songs in my computer that I always loose count of which song belong to who. So I assume you won’t be asking me about Linkin Park, Guns ‘n Roses, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Eyed Peas, Green day, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas… looks like the list is going on and I can’t remember much. Thanks to all media managing software for keeping my songs managed.
Not much to talk about myself and don’t want to bore you by putting in details about my father, mother, brother etc. This blog connects you and me and should contain things between us.
So, enjoy the blog. Cheers.
